Why Instagram DPs Are Tiny — And How to Get the Full Size
If you have ever tapped on someone's Instagram profile picture hoping to see it bigger, you know the frustration. Instagram deliberately crops every DP into a small 320-pixel circle and offers no native "view full size" or "save" option anywhere in its interface.
But here is the thing — the original full-resolution image is still sitting on Instagram's CDN servers. It is just not surfaced in the UI. FastReelSave reaches directly into that CDN and retrieves the original file. The result is a clean, full-size JPG at whatever resolution the person originally uploaded — typically 1080×1080 for recent profiles.
It works for virtually all public accounts and for most private accounts too. The profile picture (DP) is technically a public asset on Instagram even when an account is set to private — only the posts and Stories are restricted. How to Download an Instagram DP (Step-by-Step)
The process is the same whether you are on an iPhone, Android phone, or a desktop browser. There is nothing to install — it all runs in your browser.
Step 1 — Find the Instagram @username
Open Instagram and go to the profile whose DP you want to download. The @username is shown at the top of their profile page, just below the profile picture.
Step 2 — Paste it into FastReelSave
Come to fastreelsave.app, select the Profile tab, and paste the @username into the input box. You can include or leave out the @ symbol — both work the same.
Step 3 — Hit Download
FastReelSave contacts Instagram's CDN and retrieves the full-resolution DP. This usually takes under two seconds on any reasonably fast internet connection.

Can You Download a Private Account's Instagram DP?
Yes, and this surprises a lot of people. On Instagram, an account's profile picture is technically a public resource — even when the account itself is set to private. This means anyone can technically view the thumbnail, and the full-size version is stored on the same public CDN. FastReelSave can access it for most private accounts.
What you cannot do — and what FastReelSave will never do — is access the private posts, Stories, or Reels of a private account. Those are genuinely locked behind Instagram's authentication layer. Only the DP falls in this gray area of being technically public.
If you find yourself wanting to download someone's DP, please make sure you have a legitimate reason. Common uses include verifying an identity, archiving your own old profile picture, or checking if someone is using your photo as their DP (a form of impersonation). Using someone's photo without their knowledge for personal reasons or harassment is not something we support.

What Resolution Does the Instagram DP Download Come In?
The answer depends on when the account owner last updated their profile picture. Instagram has changed its storage resolution over the years. Here is roughly what to expect:
1080×1080 pixels
Accounts that updated their profile picture after approximately 2020. This is the most common result and gives you a sharp, HD-quality JPG.
640×640 pixels
Accounts that set their profile picture between roughly 2014 and 2019. Still a decent resolution — about 4× larger than what Instagram shows in the UI.
320×320 pixels
Very old accounts that have never changed their original profile picture. This was Instagram's maximum storage resolution before 2014.
